Positions at this level perform the full range of duties as assigned, working independently and exercising judgment and initiative. Duties include the application of technical knowledge within the scope of responsibilities regulated by Registered Nursing regulations. This class is distinguished from the Public Health Nurse series by the licensing requirements and the performance of less complex and more routine duties. Positions at this level receive instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise, and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit.EXAMPLES OF DUTIESProvides clinical nursing services to clients, including screening, clinical care and public health instruction and education.Makes referrals to other agencies and/or providers as appropriate.Collaborates with other agencies to provide effective outreach and referral.Administers and evaluates pregnancy tests; provides comprehensive counseling, assessment and referral for pregnant and non-pregnant clients.Conducts immunization and flu vaccination clinics for children and adults on-site and in community settings.Performs, reads and evaluates TB tests.Serves as client advocate; coordinates health services with providers as needed.Participates in case conferences regarding individual client needs and options.Establishes and maintains client and program-specific records and data.Assists clients in accessing health and community services as.Receives and reviews client referrals from agencies and providers in the community.Assists in developing community-wide needs assessment activities and public health programs as assigned.Develops and distributes outreach and health education materials.Participates in program outreach and public information / publicity activities.Prepares required reports and records with accuracy and in a timely manner.Attends various meetings and training sessions as appropriate or required.Coordinates and/or participates in special programs and projects as assigned.Performs related duties as assigned.Job Description URL:https://www.Countyofglenn.Net/sites/default/files/Personnel/Job_Descriptions/CliIdeal CandidateEXPERIENCE AND TRAININGExperience:Two years of responsible nursing experience, preferably including some public / community health experience.Training:Completion of Registered Nursing Program.LICENSE OR CERTIFICATEPossession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California drivers license.Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid license as a registered nurse in California.Possession of, or ability to obtain, certifications in First Aid and CPR.QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge of:Principles and practices of nursing and health care.Procedures and methods of First Aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.Public health education.Principles of family planning.Principles of child development.Principles and techniques of teaching, counseling, outreach and interviewing.Methods of medical case recording and report preparation.Business letter writing and report preparation; English language usage,punctuation, spelling and grammar.Modern office procedures, practices and technology, including the use of computers for data and word processing.Ability to:Learn and apply federal, state and local policies, procedures, laws and regulations.Understand and follow oral and written instructions.Assist in developing public health programs and activities.Perform routine clinical nursing duties and responsibilities.Administer First Aid and CPR.Perform routine medical tests and interpret results.Operate a variety of standard medical and medical testing equipmentMaintain confidentiality as appropriate.Prepare and maintain reports, records and logs.Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.BenefitsHOLIDAYS:13 paid holidays per year and an additional twenty four hours of Holiday Leave. An employee must be employed the last working day before and the first working day after the holiday in order to receive holiday compensation. Employees on leave without pay shall not accrue holiday benefits.VACATION:88 hours (approximately 11 working days) per year during the first 2 years of service; 128 hours (approximately 16 working days) per year during years 3 through 12; 168 hours (approximately 21 working days) per year during years 13 through 19; 208 hours (approximately 26 working days) per year after 20 full years of service.SICK LEAVE:96 hours (approximately twelve working days) per year of paid sick leave.BEREAVEMENT LEAVE:40 hours with pay for each instance for immediate family members. Immediate family includes spouse, child, stepchild, grandchild, stepparent, parent, grandparent, parent-in-law, grandparent-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, brother or sister.LONGEVITY:Service is based on employment with Glenn County. The County shall provide a longevity differential above the employees base rate of pay for those employees represented by this unit as follows: after 10 full years of service 5%, after 15 full years of service 1%, after 20 full years of service 1%, after 25 full years of service 1% and after 30 full years of service 1% for a total of 9%.HEALTH PLAN:Glenn County contracts with PERS for medical insurance. The County pays a portion of the medical insurance premium based on the carrier and amount of the total premium.VISION PLAN:The County pays the employee premium for a vision plan with Medical Eye Services (MES). The employee may enroll dependents at the employees expense.DENTAL PLAN:GCGU employees are offered a choice of two voluntary dental insurance plans; Delta Dental (PPO) and DeltaCare (HMO). The employee pays 100% of the premium through payroll deduction.DEFERRED COMPENSATION:The County offers three IRC 457 voluntary Deferred Compensation Plans (tax deferred long-term savings plans): Voya, Nationwide and Edward Jones.SHORT TERM DISABILITY:The County coordinates with State Short Term Disability Insurance for regular employees.LIFE INSURANCE:The County pays the premium on a $10,000 Term Life Insurance policy for regular County employees. The employee pays the premium for optional life insurance.RETIREMENT:The County participates in the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) which is coordinated with Social Security. The employee is responsible for 100% of the employees portion.
