Job Title: Risk & Safety Associate
Classification: Full-Time, Non-Exempt, At-Will
Reports to: Safety & Compliance Manager
Department: Operations
Location: Yuba City, CA
(May work on-site at a Race Communications office location;
telecommuting agreeable; occasional travel required)

Summary:
Assists all organization safety activities and programs to ensure a
safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment for all
employees; supports accident prevention programs. Facilitates the
compliance program, maintains compliance databases, and provides
compliance reporting for worksites and projects.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Eligibility for US Employment without sponsorship
- Minimum of 18 years of age
- Minimum of one to two years related experience in the
Telecommunication industry, and/or equivalent work environments is
required
- Fundamental safety and/or compliance professional certification
is preferred. Examples include - Certified Safety Professional
(CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), and/or OSHA 10-Hour
Certification
- Must be able to perform basic first aid during emergency
situations
- Valid Basic Class C driver's license is required
- Proficient use of MS office applications including Teams, Word,
Excel, and PowerPoint; teleconferencing applications
- Functional use of common office equipment, computers, and office
software
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English as the
primary language used in the workplace
- Spanish bilingual skills are desirable

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists in monitoring safety programs to reduce frequency of
accidents and injuries; assists in minimizing overall workers'
compensation costs
- Supports the Race Communications Illness and Injury Prevention
Program (IIPP) and COVID-19 Prevention Program (CPP)
- Provides emergency medical assistance such as basic first aid to
assist individuals in distress
- Communicates and monitors safety policies and procedures in
compliance with local, state, and federal OSHA rules and
regulations
- Monitors fire prevention and response activities
- Performs initial investigation of all accidents and injuries,
performs root-cause analysis, recommends and/or proposes corrective
actions; Assists in the management of Workers' Compensation,
insurance claims, and legal proceedings
- Reviews and responds to OSHA/safety-related inquiries
- Identifies potential safety hazards at all facilities; reports
hazards and recommendations for eliminating/reducing to
management
- Cooperates with other departments on design and construction of
new equipment, facilities, and work methods to ensure compliance
with safety policies and regulations.
- Prepares and maintains required safety reports
- Attends company safety meetings and maintains relevant
documentation
- Promotes safe and healthy working conditions and establishes
constant safe practices by all employees
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management
Other duties as necessary may include but are not limited to:
- Successfully complete assigned training and examinations, as well
as participate in ongoing performance and development reviews, and
goal setting
- Be available to participate in internal or external meetings,
special functions, and professional development opportunities
- Cross-train and share knowledge with other team members
- Support routine tasks
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- You must have the physical, visual, and auditory ability to
perform the essential functions of the job with or without
reasonable accommodations.
- This position regularly requires sitting, bending, leaning,
bending, kneeling, crawling, walking (moderate distances),
climbing, and the ability to sit or stand for several hours at a
time.
- This position requires frequent use of a keyboard, mouse,
telephone, computer workstation, and office equipment.
- This position requires correct use of job-appropriate safety
equipment which may include but is not limited to, protective
headwear, masks/respiratory protection, protective gloves, hearing
protection, protective eyewear and face shields, fall protection
equipment, and specific protective clothing.
- This position frequently requires speaking, listening, and visual
acuity for reading and operating equipment.
- This position is frequently required to utilize hand and finger
dexterity.
- Must be able to safely lift and carry items up to 35 pounds in
order to perform essential functions.
- This position requires occasional exposure to outside weather
conditions, including extreme heat, cold, wind, and rain.
- This position may require the operation of company provided motor
vehicles and equipment.
- This position may require working in various environments from
office, warehouse facilities, and field sites.
- This position frequently requires exposure to loud noise
(construction and warehouse equipment).
